Local Search

Businesses serving customers in a local area should be listed in the 'local search results' on search engines. Estimates suggest that as much as one-fourth of all online search activity is local in nature—meaning that the web searcher is looking for a local business with whom to engage.

Local search results appear—generally alongside a map—when a web searcher types in a specific geographic modifier, such as a city or zip code. The image below shows the results of a Google search for 'Orlando veterinarian'; the local search results appear just below the top sponsored search results, with more listings and a more thorough profile of each business just a click away. (Note that other search engines provide a similar service.)

Information that appears in the local search results is derived from a variety of data sources. While your listing may include a link to your website, it is actually not dependent upon it; in fact, it is possible to appear in the local search results even without a website. Having relevant, accurate, keyword-rich information in your listing can improve the likelihood of appearing near the top of the local business results when your prospective customers do a search.

Marlannah Group can set up your listings in the major search engines to maximize the likelihood that they will appear near the top of the results for a given search.
